Description

The Automation Technician is responsible for all phases of automation cell integration, configuration, and some programming. The role works closely with Engineering, Service, and Applications.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Electro-Mechanical installations, setup and configuration of machines and subsystems. Support of machine testing and commissioning activities both at I-C Automation's facility and at customers locations.

  • Coordinating and planning for machine systems breakdown, packaging, and re-assembly at final point of deployment.

  • Perform Stockkeeper functions such as receiving, labeling of incoming purchased material, packing and shipping parts orders, loading of trucks, and other duties as assigned.

  • Provides technical support to engineers in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.

  • Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.

  • Panel build (mounting and wiring)

  • Print wire tags, terminal board tags, and panel tags, as required

  • Nameplate engraving preparation

  • Cable assembly (solder and crimp connectors)

  • Collect and prepare documentation for drawings, instruction, maintenance, and operator’s manuals.

Interpersonal

  • Serve as the technical interface with internal team for assigned projects.

  • Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction and customer satisfaction.

  • Obtains product and system technical information and keeps up-to-date with current and new technologies.

Business

  • Builds relationships at the technical and professional level with I-C Automation’s customers and vendors.

  • Technical execution of projects.

  • Responsible for meeting project schedules, hour budgets and customer satisfaction targets for own activities in support of the project team.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Vocational Training and 3+ years experience required; or GED with 5+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).

  • Must be able to perform good mechanical and electrical assembly. Must understand the use of all production equipment.
